Yes. Every HVAC contractor in the Mr. Remodel network is needs to carry a valid state license and insurance. However, we may not re-verify credentials annually, so we strongly recommend confirming your contractor’s current licensing and insurance status before any work begins.
HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) is always regulated at the state level, since it involves gas lines, refrigerants, and electrical work. Most states require HVAC contractors to hold a specialty contractor license or a mechanical contractor license. Some states require additional EPA Section 608 certification to handle refrigerants legally.
Insurance: Licensed HVAC contractors are typically required to carry general liability insurance. Workers’ compensation is also required if they employ technicians.
