Every roofing contractor in the Mr. Remodel network is needs to carry a valid state license and insurance. However, we may not re-verify credentials annually, so we strongly recommend confirming your contractor’s current licensing and insurance status before any work begins
Licensing: In most states, roofing is a regulated trade, and contractors are required to hold a state-issued license (sometimes under a general contractor license, sometimes a roofing-specific classification). A handful of states (like Texas) don’t require a state roofing license, but cities or counties may have local registration rules. Because of the safety risks (working at height, structural work, weatherproofing), many states also require proof of bonding along with the license.
Insurance: Roofing contractors almost always need general liability insurance because of the high risk of property damage (leaks, structural issues). If they have employees, workers’ compensation is required by law in most states.
